Abstract: | The idea of body mass index was given by Belgian mathematician in early 1800s. In 1800 a Belgian mathematician, Adolphe Quetelet studying the association between height and weight. But he not able to find out any significant relationship between height and weight . At the end of the study he able to find a correlation between weight divided by height square [46]. newlineBody mass index is a statistical index by which any one estimates the body fat in any age group. In this statistical formula a person should known the weight and height. This equation divides weight in kilogram s by height in square metres. The result which is generated by this equation is person s individual body mass index number [47]. newlineHowever, variation in BMI also exists. In body builder and certain sports individual health status does not directly correlate with BMI, because of increased muscle mass. newlineWaist circumference(WC) is divided to determine ABSI from allometric regression of height and weight. This index was designed to associate the height, weight and BMI. In many cohort observational studies it was found that the ABSI index is a predictor of overall mortality for people aged 5 to 25. [50]. newlineThe results of ABSI are almost identical to those of conventional laboratory assays, and it is a good event predictor of cardiovascular disease. [51]. Due to accurate prediction by ABSI some clinician incorporates clinical guideline to place together WC and BMI [52]. In previous research it was found that only WC is taken as predictor of cardiovascular changes. Now a day s ABSI is taken over WC [53]. newlineThere are limited research, which can make a association between ABSI and cardio-metabolic disease (CMD). Many studies show ABSI is less strongly associated with the cardiovascular risk factors. However, very few studies shows positive correlation in ABSI, BMI and CMD [53]. newlinefactors like hypertension, diabetes , dyslipidemia etc [88]. newline |
