Abstract: | Wireless communication (WC) is a growing need of the current generation in all possible application fields. Wireless networks can be easily expanded and can be configured with open source communication medium. The wireless networking s offers global reach and can be easily positioned in remote areas where wired transmission mediums are not feasible. The enormous growth in the wireless sector have given rise to rapid technological up gradations in the respective area where ease of glitch free communication is one among the various constraints to be accomplished. WC is a highly sought after mode of advance communications in which the constant and incessant availability of the spectrum medium is a very crucial factor that needs to be considered. Cognitive Radio (CR) is a competent wireless technology which resolves the spectrum scarcity crisis in a network by allocating free spectrum dynamically and establishes coexistence between the users of the network, without interfering with the incumbent transmission. The Primary User (PU) which is otherwise called the licensed user of the network, and the Secondary Users (SU) which are the un-licensed users of the network, are meant to be the two key users of the network. CR is an intelligent radio which is deployed to sense the spectrum on a regular basis to monitor the free spectrum availability in order to avoid spectrum wastage and leverage the available spectrum bands to the unlicensed users or the SU s when the PU does not require the so called spectrum for its transmission. With the various compensations that are offered by the WC medium, due to the open source communication it also attracts various security threats like interferences, jamming and various other unethical attacks across the network. Primary User Emulation Attack (PUEA) is one of the major threats to the spectrum sensing performance that decreases the spectrum access probability of unlicensed users of the network. The attack is actually said to ii be launched by one of the various SU s of the network which |
