dc.description.abstractIn recent years, material scientists and engineers in the structural, automotive and aerospace sectors have been looking for natural composites with improved mechanical, dynamic, wear properties and good environmental behavior. Natural fibre reinforced polymer composites have potential environmental characteristics such as high strength to weight ratio, greater load carrying capacity, better wear characteristics, and long-term durable behavior and making them a viable material for structural industry requirements. In many industrial applications, thermoset epoxy resin is commonly utilized as a matrix material because of its low viscosity at room temperature, higher adhesion strength with fibers, good wetting characteristics, lower shrinkage and good corrosion resistance properties. However, epoxy resins are thermoset polymer and it is not biodegradable. In recent years, two or more fibres are combined to get the advantageous of individual fibres. This effect is called as hybridization effect in composite materials. Hybridization or mixture of both natural and synthetic fibers with the epoxy based matrix develop new hybrid composites with improved dynamic mechanical as well as wear properties. The objective of this work includes develop a new natural fibre reinforced polymer composite and investigate its dynamic mechanical, tribological and water absorption characteristics. In this work, Glass (G), Jute (J) and Calaotropie Gigantean Stem fibers (CGS) are used as reinforcements and epoxy used as matrix material. The effect of inclusion of different wt. % of CGS fibres and stacking sequence of three fibres on dynamic and tribological properties are analyzed. newline
