Abstract: | Background: Old age is the closing period of the life span. It is a period when people move away from previous, more desirable periods or times of usefulness . Old age is considered a curse, being associated with deterioration of all physical, psychological factors, isolation from social, economic, and other activities. Elderly people may suffer from multiple health disorders due to their vulnerability to many physical and mental disturbances. Quality of life in the elderly population can be affected by many environmental factors. So, the quality of life of the elderly is in great question; therefore, to enhance their well-being in terms of both physical and emotional aspects, the Nursing Interventional Package was used. Therefore, this study was projected with the aim of assessing the effectiveness of the nursing intervention package on the physical and emotional well-being of elderly people living in selected old age homes of Punjab. newlineMethod: This was quantitative quasi-experimental research conducted in 4 selected old age homes of Punjab. As per convenience, two old age homes were chosen for the experimental group and two for the control group. From these old age homes, 200 elderly were recruited using a non probability purposive sampling technique. The experimental group received an intervention named the nursing interventional package which consisted of educational awareness, group therapy, and an exercise regimen for the duration of 4 weeks. The pre-test and post-test data were collected using developed tools, which were also checked for their feasibility. These tools were the Physical Well-Being Assessment Scale (PWB-AS) and the Emotional Well-Being Assessment Scale (EWB-AS). newlineResults: The collected data was tabulated and analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. Prior to intervention, the physical well-being score at the interventional arm was 84.26±10.81 and the post-test score was 103.23±14.05. |
