dc.description.abstract | The concept of quality has been in existence for numerous years, but it has changed and developed with the passage of time. Primarily, the concept of TQM was applied in business sector. Later on, it gained importance in other sectors also like banking, insurance, health, education and government. Today, quality is the single most important issue in education, business and government as remarked by Chukka (2015). Realizing the importance of higher education, it is necessary to improve the quality and performance of this sector. Total Quality Management (TQM) in higher educational institutions can help to achieve high quality in its working and performance through long- term planning, formulation and execution of annual quality program. According to Mohammed et al. (2016), TQM should be adopted in educational institutions with the involvement of all the stakeholders students, parents, teachers, leaders and systems, focusing on the use of new teaching and newlinelearning methods, course content and teaching methodology . The researches conducted on TQM focused on various TQM factors and its dimensions. According to Sangode and Hedaoo (2019), Trust-based relationship with the suppliers and committed leadership from the top management have major contributions in better practicing of the TQM principles. TQM has a significant and positive impact on the performance of an organization. It is the quality of education which forms long-term newlinewealth and security of the societies and their people as stated by Munyanyiwa and Nyaruwata (2020).
