Abstract: Microfluidic channels, waveguides, and metallic functional elements are the three newlinemajor components which after integration form a monolithic and an integrated newlinefused based Lab-on-a-Chip (LoC) for chemical, optical and electric sensing of bio- newlinemolecules. Due to their compact design, ease of integration, and portability LoCs newlineplay a major role in the fields of bio-chemistry, chemical synthesis, drug develop- newlinement, and medical diagnostics. This thesis focuses on developing simple methods newlinefor realizing microchannels, and waveguides as well as metallic functional elements newlineinside the microchannels. newline
