Clays are naturally occurring materials composed primarily of fine-grained newlineminerals found on the surface of the earth mainly composed of silica, alumina, water, and newlineweathered rock. Based on their charge, clay minerals can generally be divided into two newlinegroups. Cationic clays have layered lattice structures in which two-dimensional newlineoxyanions are separated by layers of hydrated cations. Anionic clays have a charge on newlinethe layer and the gallery anion is reversed, complementary to cationic clays. Hydrotalcite newline(HT) is magnesium/aluminium hydroxyl carbonate layered material belonging to the newlineclass of anionic clays and are natural or synthetic lamellar mixed hydroxides with newlineinterlayer spaces containing exchangeable anions. Hydrotalcite compounds also known newlineas layered double hydroxide (LDHs)/hydrotalcite-type anionic clays (HTs), have a newlinestructure similar to the brucite Mg(OH)2, where the Mg2+ cations are bonded to the six newlineOHand#8722; anions, forming an octahedral arrangement. As per the green chemistry concept, newlinehydrotalcite-like materials provide several advantages over corrosive catalysts like their newlinefacile and ease of synthesis from easily available chemicals, easy separation from the newlinereaction mixture, recycling, zero effluent synthesis, and less hazardous chemicals. newlineBecause of the association of the various primacy factors with HTs, like large surface newlinearea, high anion exchangeability, Brønsted-Lewis acid and base sites, memory effect, newlinebiocompatible, stability, uniformity, and non-toxicity, they attracted considerable newlineattention from researchers for their use in various fields. This research project focuses on newlinethe synthesis, characterization, and catalytic study of M+/M2+Al-CO3 HTs. One of the newlinemain reasons for considering the HTs problem is the observation that these materials newlinehave a wide range of applications in catalysis, drug delivery, plastic additive and newlinerecycling materials, and adsorbents. Keeping in view all the above factors, the research newlinework on HTs with different M+/M2+ ions.
