Abstract: A study has been conducted to understand the application of technologies and the intent of RandD for innovations by SMEs from engineering background. It is signified that on a commercial scale the technology needs to be applied with technical know-how, skill development, IT tools and techniques, RandD intensity to create new product / process / services done through innovation management. Study also highlights on the awareness and utilisation of policies and promotional measures offered by government, agencies and associations. newline
