Behavior of Externally Confined Hybrid Fiber Reinforced Concrete Filled Light Gauge Steel Tube Columns with Studs and Stiffeners

Abstract

In recent years, composite columns, particularly concrete-filled steel tube newline(CFST) columns, have become popular for structural construction due to their newlineexcellent strength, ductility, and durability. Although CFST columns offer various newlineadvantages in construction projects, they are susceptible to compressive failure due newlineto steel buckling, concrete crushing, bonding, and confinement failures. This research newlinedelves into the axial compression behavior of short circular and rectangular-shaped newlineCFST columns made of light-gauge steel tubes. This study aims to address these newlinechallenges and proposes using HFRC as an infill to reduce the brittleness of newlineconventional concrete (CC). The HFRC and light gauge steel combination provides newlineenhanced load-bearing capacity, stiffness, ductility, and efficient strength-to-weight newlineratio without compromising structural integrity, making it an ideal choice for various newlineconstruction projects newline
