dc.description.abstractWith the advent of computing and communication technologies, learner s knowledge expansion is made possible whenever and wherever. Web based learning promotes active and independent learning. Large scale e-learning platforms revolutionizes study approaches and also pave way for innovations resulting in effective teaching-learning process. Thus, it improves teaching quality and also promotes educational equity. However, challenges of e-learning platforms include dissimilarity in learner s ability and need, lack of student motivation for learning activities, provision for adaptive learning environment etc. Analyzing the online learner s behavioral characteristics and application of intelligent instructional strategies will enhance quality of learning. Evaluation after the completion of e-learning course never identifies difficulties faced during the process. It is thus essential for an e-learning system to include component offering adaptive control of learning and maintain user interests level. Adaptive e-learning revolves around learner-centric delivery methods and engagement. newline
