dc.description.abstractMost of the physical and industrial processes that we operate in newlineour daily life possess nonlinear characteristics. Some of them have mild newlinenonlinearity and some are highly nonlinear. The nonlinearity may be due to its newlinechemical kinetics, thermodynamic behaviour, immense flow of energy and newlinematerial, and input and output saturation etc., These inherent characteristics newlineseriously affect the system stability and pose a great threat to the dynamic newlineperformance of nonlinear processes. A contemporary lineup of various kinds newlineof literature in the domain of mathematical modelling, nonlinearity newlinemeasurement, and application of nonlinear control with respect to special newlineproblems arising in the computational and stability issues of industrial newlinephysical systems was inquired during the research. A scrupulous review of the newlinepast and recent developments in this field by many researchers, confided the newlinehuge gap between quantification of nonlinearity, system identification, newlineestimation of process parameters, and nonlinear control. Therefore, a careful newlineinvestigation is made in this technical work in classifying systems with the newlinedegree of nonlinearity 0 (and#61508; ) , choice of parametric identification method, newlineselection of parameter estimation algorithm, and the type of nonlinear control newlinefor different nonlinear systems. In the proposed study, around nine physical newlinesystems with different levels/grades of nonlinearity and complex behaviours newlineare considered as case studies. The examples taken for this research are typical newlineindustrial units directly inclined to chemical process applications. The newlineprocesses taken for the research are lined up as follows: A semi-batch newlinebioreactor, an exothermal continuous stirred tank reactor (eCSTR), a cascaded newlinethree-tank system (3TANK), an industrial double effect evaporator system newline(DEE), an isothermal CSTR with two state variables (iCSTR2), an isothermal newlineCSTR with three state variables (iCSTR3), a tubular heat exchanger (HE), a newlinebinary Distillation Column (DC) and a multi-slope pH process (pH) Such newlinesystems are classified as l
