dc.description.abstractThe present research work intends to determine the most commonly reported newlinepsychological problems for patients newly diagnosed with cancer and patients after newlineundergoing with operation. Poor insight of depression and death anxiety is associated newlinewith abridged quality of life and survival. The main objective of present research work newlinewas to counsel cancer patients and collect data to find out death anxiety and newlinedepression among pre operated and post operated cancer patients. The major issues newlinefound in many of the chronic diseases is depression and death anxiety. Patients newlinesuffering from cancer especially the young ones mostly victimize to depression and newlinedeath anxiety. The possible reason might be social responsibility and the expectations newlineof the family members. Other than that, treatment of cancer in any forms is quite cost newlineconsuming and time taking and also the fear of death and reoccurrence of disease newlinecould lead to anxiety and depression in patients. For this purpose, a total sample of newlinetwo hundred (N=200) participants in Jaipur which is further divided into two equal newlineparts. Purposive sampling technique was used for selecting samples. The severity of newlinethe patients were considered randomly. With the aim to find out the death anxiety in newlinepre operated cancer patients and depression in post operated cancer patients newlinedescriptive statistics like mean, standard deviation, range etc. of all the variables under newlinestudy viz. death anxiety and depression were calculated to describe the basic nature of newlinethe data. Therefore to compare the effects t-test was used. Results revealed that newlinepre-operated female cancer patients are more anxious and stressed as compared to newlinepre-operated male cancer patients. Post operated female cancer patients are more newlinestressed and shown more depressive symptoms as compared to post operated male newlinecancer patients. Blood cancer patients are more depressed as compared to other types newlineof cancer patients. Cancer patients belonging to rural areas are equally anxious and newlinestressed as cancer patients belonging to urban areas
