Abstract: The Cauvery Delta Region (CDR) of Tamil Nadu vastly contribute to the agricultural production of South India. It is the agricultural protective zone of the state of Tamil Nadu. The crop production in this region is highly vulnerable to climate change which can directly or indirectly affect crop production and threaten livelihoods and food security. newlineThe observed climate parameters acquired from Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) for 1971- 2020, and future climate data was taken from Community Climate System Model (CCSM4) over 2021 2099 are used to study the climate trend and extreme analysis. The study indicated that the observed maximum temperature (TMax) has significantly increased by 0.8 ºC, 1.5 ºC, and 0.9 ºC in Adirampattinam (ARP), Nagappattinam (NPT) and IMD grid, respectively, from 1971-2020. Besides that, the minimum temperature (TMin) showed an insignificant trend in ARP and NPT and a significant trend in the IMD grid (0.5 ºC), respectively. Moreover, the observed rainfall revealed a negligible trend in ARP (-3.8%), NPT (-11.1%) and IMD grid (+22.5%). The projected maximum and minimum temperature would be a significant increasing trend of 1.05 °C and 1.1 °C, respectively, and the rainfall is projected to decrease insignificantly by 21% from 2015 to 2099. newline
