Narratives of Displacement A Study of Select Indian Diasporic Short Stories

Abstract

This thesis is an endeavour to explicate the nuances of displacementand#8722; its nature, facets, consequences and effect as recounted in the select narratives. The term narratives in the title is used in a generic way to refer to the primary texts of this research, which have been chosen meticulously by the researcher. The narratives encapsulate the dynamics of displacement of the select communities chosen for the study, namely, the Hindu Sindhis who have migrated from Pakistan and the Namasudra refugees of Bengal who migrated from Bangladesh, the Tibetan refugees and the internally displaced Kashmiri Pandits. newline
