dc.description.abstract | In the past and current scenario, the use of aluminium metal newlinematrix composites is on great demand in several applications. For the newlinetribological applications, the metal matrix composites are one of the newlinemost valuable in the field of newer materials. newlineMany investigations have been conducted in aluminium based newlinemetal matrix composite with different reinforced particles for newlinetribological studies. However, the research on AA6081 composite newlinematerial reinforced with ZrO2 combination is limited. newlineIn this study, AA6081 composite is fabricated through powder newlinemetallurgy process using Taguchiand#8223;s L27 orthogonal array with the input newlineparameters such as milling time, sintering temperature and compaction newlinepressure. The green compaction of metal powder is designed with the newlinecylindrical diameter of 20 mm and 25 mm in height. The die for the newlinegreen compaction of AA6081 metal powder consists of ejector pin, newlinepressure pin and middle part of the die part. The outputs considered for newlineconducting the experiments were hardness and compression strength. newlineGrey Relational Analysis (GRA) technique is introduced to find the newlinepredicted optimal parameter based on the multi-objective optimization. newlineHigher the newlinevii newlineinput parameters selected the increase in hardness and compression newlinestrength resulted. newlineBased on the optimized parameter, the AA6081 composite newlinematerial is undergone on pin-on-disk wear test for tribological studies newlinesuch as wear rate and coefficient of friction. For the measurement of newlinetribological outputs, the input parameters selected in this experiment are newlineload, sliding distance and addition of ZrO2 wt%. These input parameters newlineare designed with three factors and five levels for this study. The load is newlinevaried from 10 to 50 N, sliding distance from 250 mm to 1250 mm and newlineaddition of ZrO2 wt% is from 0 to 8 wt%. newlineThe micrograph examination is conducted on the front, side newlineand top surfaces in each wt%. The sintered samples have characterized newlinewith X-ray diffraction (XRD). The wear out surfaces is also analyzed newlinesurface morphology in Scanning Electron Microscopy | |
