Process improvement in the automotive industry towards business excellence

Abstract

Business Excellence (BE) is defined as a high level of growth in a company/Organization related to management and result achievement. Business Excellence cannot be achieved in a silo and needs to be associated with Process Excellence and process improvements. Organizations carrying out Process improvements will achieve Process Excellence and, thereby, Business Excellence. newline newlineThere are many Business Excellence/Process Excellence models. Some of them are process-oriented, whereas others are result-oriented. No model is unique, and it is industry /organization / country-specific. Hence, there is a need to research industry-specific models for process improvements. newline newlineThe Indian automotive industry is expected to reach Rs.16.16-18.18 trillion (US$ 251.4-282.8 billion) by 2026 and will likely witness an increased demand for skilled labour in the forthcoming years as the economic environment improves. The government of India has identified Skill Development as one of the critical interventions to achieve the target. newline newlineThe research aims to develop and implement an automotive organization -specific process excellence model focusing on skill development. newline newline
