Abstract: | World Health Organization (WHO) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), have introduced standard guidelines with the motivation of providing quality water for a healthy environment. Typically, water quality is affected by waste products released from industrial sewage, agricultural, and human activities. Similarly, the natural process namely eutrophication, sedimentation, chlorination and flocculation can also contaminate the drinking water quality. The consumption of these contaminated drinking water may cause water-borne diseases namely influenza, severe acute respiratory syndrome, hepatitis, gastric ulcers, pulmonary, and pneumonia. Hence, Water Quality Assessment (WQA) is an essential mechanism needed for the well-being of both society and the environment. Presently water quality utilities and traditional measuring technologies that includes (i) Physical collection of water samples from various locations and (ii) Evaluation of Water Quality Data (WQD) of the collected samples in a laboratory environment. The conventional process mentioned above is time consuming and requires trained professionals having vivid knowledge on the guidelines prescribed by various standards on water quality. Existing solution is not cost effective and also may not be more accurate as measurement of Water Quality Parameters (WQPs) are not made in the site. newline |
