Abstract: Of late, with the changes in social, technological and demographical environment, work life balance (WLB) has become a buzz word and a matter of serious concern for both leading business houses and scholars. Another very powerful factor is the rise in personal expectations and career growth for employees (Allen, 2001; Gordon et al., 2007; Thomas and Ganster, 1995). According to 2001 Census of India, the country has registered a sharp rise in number of working women and working couples on the one hand and on the other hand a change in family set-ups from joint to nuclear status (Bharat, 2003; Rajadhyaksha and Bhatnagar, 2000; Komarraju, 1997; Sekaran, 1992). Further, technology growth and intensive use of internet has caused penetration of professional work into homes, directly impacting family life (Cooper, 1998). newline
