Abstract: According to World Health Organization (WHO), around 17.9 million people lose their lives newlineglobally due to cardiovascular disease (CVD), which accounts for 32% of the total death newlineworldwide. Of this, greater than 75% of CVD deaths occur in low and middle-income newlinecountries and 85% of such deaths are due to heart attack (myocardial infarction or MI) and newlinestroke. For a country such as India, where 70% of the population resides in rural areas, newlinerepresenting the bottom of the pyramid (BoP), there is a major lacuna in the systematic newlinemonitoring and management of CVD, that presents an integrated emergency health newlinemanagement approach, when properly implemented can minimize deaths due to CVD. newline
