Abstract: | India ranks second in the world population and the growing population gives an alarming newlinesignal to the healthcare professionals in India. As the population grows people tend to acquire newlinecomplications related to health and the technological developments have to provide solutions newlineto overcome the challenges. The health updates published by Government of India in 2017 newlinefocuses on rise in non-communicable diseases. This research work focuses on one of the newlinemajor non-communicable Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) which is the newlinemajor cause of death worldwide. The major challenge faced by the healthcare industry is newlinegathering and integrating the clinical data in various formats and analyse them for the newlinebetterment of patients. The advent of Big Data and Analytics is offered as a solution to newlineovercome this challenge and help the healthcare professionals. newlineThe research work has been carried out using the following steps newlinei) newlineCollect the data from different sources and identify the parameters for predicting newlineCOPD newlineii)Structure and Pre-process the data using Hadoop components newlineiii)Store the data in an efficient manner to make it scalable, flexible and highly newlineavailable newlineiv)Building a model using machine learning algorithms newlinev)Evaluate the model and disseminate to the stakeholders newline |
