Assessment of chitosan nanoparticles in endodonti irrigants intracanal medicaments endodontic sealers and biomaterials

Abstract

Conservation of natural tooth structure and restoring the damaged structure to functionality has been the prime motive of Conservative dentistry and Endodontics. We are in an era where functionality and aesthetics are detrimental factors in the treatment planning of extensively damaged teeth. With advent of novel and enhanced endodontic material with superior properties have promoted the notion of conservation of teeth. Success and longetivity of root canal treatment is influenced by numerous factors like: establishing an accurate diagnosis and developing a precise treatment plan; thorough understanding of the tooth anatomy and morphology; and precisely performing the debridement, cleaning and shaping and obturation of the entire root canal system. Initially, emphasis was on obturation of the radicular space to achieve a 3-D hermetic seal. Root canal cleaning, shaping and obturation forms the important pillars in endodontic triad which lays down a strong foundation for successful root canal treatment.
