Abstract: | The present study was undertaken to know about the relationship between academic achievement, emotional intelligence and family relationship. In this study the emotional intelligence, family relationship and demographic variables like gender and type of school were taken as independent variables. Academic achievement was taken as independent variable. All the higher secondary school students enrolled in any higher secondary school of Kashmir valley represents the population of the study. Total sample of 600 higher secondary school students were studied in which 300 are male and 300 are female students. Emotional intelligence scale (EIS) developed by Arun Kumar and Shruti Narayan (2014) and Family relationship inventory (FRI) developed by Sherry and Sinha (2011) were used to study the emotional intelligence and family relationship. Marks scored in the previous class were used to access the academic achievement. Demographic information was collected and Mean, SD, t.test and product movement correlation of Pearson were calculated. Significant difference was found among higher secondary school students having high and low emotional intelligence, similarly significant relationship was found between academic achievement and family relationship of higher secondary school students. Also a significant relationship was found between emotional intelligence and family relationship of higher secondary school students. There exists a significant difference between male and female higher secondary school students on family relationship. Female higher secondary school students have found healthy family relationship than male higher secondary school students. There exists a significant difference between male and female higher secondary school students on academic achievement. Female higher secondary school students have outperformed the male students on academic achievement. newline |
