Abstract: Three field experiments were conducted to study the Response of cotton genotypes newlineto planting pattern, methods and scheduling of irrigation under GLBC area in medium black newlinesoils of Agricultural Research Station, Arabhavi, Belgaum (Dist.) during 1998-99 and 1999- newline2000. newlineDrip irrigation (DI) gave significantly higher seed cotton yield (2787 kg ha-1) which newlinewas 12.20 per cent higher than alternate furrow irrigation (2484 kg ha-1). Among the cotton newlinegenotypes, ACP-71 (2839 kg ha-1) recorded significantly higher seed cotton yield over other newlinegenotypes viz., JK-276-8-2 (2659 kg ha-1), AH-107 (2575 kg ha-1) and DHH-11 (2470 kg ha-1). newlineThe yield increase in ACP-71 genotype was to the extent of 6.77, 10.25 and 14.94 per cent newlineover JK-276-8-2, AH-107 and DHH-11, respectively. Among the interaction effects, ACP-71 newlinewith drip irrigation gave significantly higher seed cotton yield (3031 kg ha-1) over other newlinetreatments. This was due to higher total dry matter production and yield parameters. The net newlinereturns in DI with ACP-71, AH-107 and JK-276-8-2, which were 5.87, 5.62 and 4.67 per cent newlinehigher than alternate furrow irrigation, respectively. newlineDrip irrigation at 50% PE recorded significantly higher seed cotton yield (2644 kg ha-1) newlinethan other treatments, which gave 25.60 and 13.08 per cent higher seed cotton yield over DI newlineat 100% PE and DI at 75% PE (TCGP). The maximum net returns and B: C ratio were newlinerecorded with DI at 50% PE (Rs. 42215 ha-1 and 2.98). newlineSignificantly higher seed cotton yield obtained in paired row planting (45-135-45 × 60 newlinecm) with drip irrigation (2349 kg ha-1), which gave 33.39 and 24.10 per cent higher yield over newlinefurrow irrigation (1761 kg ha-1) and alternate furrow irrigation (1893 kg ha-1) respectively. newlinePaired row planting recorded significantly higher net returns (Rs. 35636/ha) over surface newlineirrigation (Rs. 25369/ha). newline
