Abstract: | ABSTRACT newline newlineEFFICACY OF YOGA THERAPY WITH AND WITHOUT AYURVEDIC DIET MODIFICATIONS ON SELECTED RISK FACTORS AMONG ADULT WOMEN SUFFERING WITH POLY CYSTIC OVARY SYNDROME newlineThe objective of the study was to find out the Efficacy of Yoga Therapy with and without Ayurvedic diet modifications on selected risk factors among adult women suffering with Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome. For the random group experimental design, 250 adult women in the age group between 25 and 35 years were invited, 130 of them satisfied Rotterdam criteria, 60 were screened and finally, 45 were randomly selected using randomized control sampling design.The selected 45 subjects were randomly assigned into three groups with 15 subjects in each group.The Intervention group A was given Yoga Therapy with Ayurvedic Diet Modifications and Intervention group B was given Yoga Therapy treatment alone for 12 weeks duration.No treatment was given for control group.The pre and post test values of the selected dependent variables were measured.The results of the t-test showed that Intervention group A and Intervention group B have significant effectiveness on all the risk factors than the control group (plt0.001).The results of the ANOVA showed significant differences between the intervention groups and control group (plt0.001).Scheffe s post hoc test proved Yoga Therapy with Ayurvedic diet modifications performed better than Yoga Therapy alone among adult women suffering with Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome in controlling the risk factors newline newline(plt0.001).The study concludes that Yoga Therapy with Ayurvedic diet modifications group performed better than the Yoga Therapy alone group on Body Mass Index (decreased);Serum Creatinine (decreased);Testosterone , Thyroid Stimulating Hormone, LH-FSH ratio(all decreased);Self-esteem (improved) among adult women with PCOS. newline newline |
