Design and Development of Multi Service Automotive Antennas

Abstract

Automotive communication has seen tremendous growth in recent times due to the rapid growth in wireless communication technologies which are intended at providing an improved service to encourage safer road user. The services offered in modern cars have been extended from the traditional AM/FM to GSM, WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G/4G LTE, Dedicated Short Range Communication (DSRC) and many more. To cater to these varied radio services, a number of antennas are deployed within a few identified locations in the vehicle. These antennas when placed in close proximity increase the co-site interference. Therefore, the need for designing compact wideband/multiband antennas for automotive environment is inevitable and hence derives much attention among the antenna community. newlineThe major objective of this thesis is to design and develop multiservice antennas that reduce the number of radiating elements to establish communication in automobiles newline
