Abstract: Florence Nightingale introduced the concept of quality in nursing care in 1855 while attending the injured soldiers in the hospital during the Crimean war. The term and#8213;Quality Assuranceand#8214; means maintaining a high quality of health care by constantly measuring the effectiveness of the organizations that provides it. Its ultimate goal is to build confidence and faith in the quality of the health care rendered. In nursing, Quality Assurance also applies to maintaining consistent standards of practices among nursing staffs, giving them opportunities for professional development and thereby offering disciplinary actions when warranted. newline The present study was undertaken to evaluate quality of nursing care practices and patient satisfaction among parturient admitted in obstetric units of a selected tertiary care hospital at Lucknow. newline newline
