Operation and control of microgrids is involved as all Distributed Energy newlineResources (DER) are integrated through power electronic converters. A newlinemicrogrid can be classified in to two types: ac and dc microgrids. In the past newlinetwo decades use of dc is on the rise due to ever increasing use of digital newlineelectronic devices, LED lights and variable speed drives for induction motors. newlineAll these electronic devices work on dc supply. Most renewables including PV newlinesystems give direct dc output. The wide penetration renewables and in newlineparticular, PV energy systems, coupled with increasing number of direct dcoperated newlineloads on the distribution side justifies the extensive establishment of newlinedc Microgrids. newlineDC power systems have successful applications in telecom centres, more newlineelectric aircrafts, more electric vehicles, space applications and shipboard power newlinesupplies. With more RES to penetrate future power grids, there is a good newlineprospect of dc power systems in the form of residential/commercial nanogrids, newlinecommunity microgrids etc. newlineHaving recognized the potential and prominence of dc power systems, newlinethis research work aims to contribute to the development and widespread use of newlinedc microgrids. Design, analysis and control of multi-bus dc microgrids with newlinegeneric interconnections with each node being a subsystem of generation and newlineloads, needs consideration. Also proper modelling of the overall system in newlineMIMO form is required for implementation of advanced control techniques. newlineAs regards the load modelling in dc systems, the published works on dc newlinemicrogrids consider the entire load to be Constant Power Loads (CPL). With newlinedevelopment of dc standards, direct dc-operated loads would permeate newlinedistribution side. These could also take constant current and impedance forms newlinein addition to the CPL form. In this thesis a linear ZIP load model is proposed. newline
