Abstract: | newlineAgriculture, the backbone of Indian economy, contributes to the overall economic growth of the country and determines the standard of life for more than 70 per cent of the Indian population. Agriculture contributes only about 14 per cent to the overall GDP but its impact is felt in the manufacturing sector as well as the services sector as the rural population has become a significant consumer of goods and services in the last couple of decades. Land is important natural resource, which support evolution and development of all types of life on earth. Land plays the key important role in the determination of man s economic and cultural progress. All agricultural, animal and forestry production depend on the quality of land. It meets the demand of food, energy and other needs of livelihood. Thus, land is valuable input in agriculture. newlineVery limited research studies so far have been conducted on ownership of the land and utilization pattern among the farmers. Therefore, the present study was conducted with the specifics objectives listed below. The present investigation aimed to study the individual land ownership and utilization pattern among farmers. This is the study of its kind being novel one. newlineSpecific objectives of the study were: newline1. Problems faced by the farmers with regards to their land ownership and revenue. newline2. Land utilization pattern among the farmers. newline3. Farming system being followed by the farmers Different indices wiz: fertility index, cropping intensity index, adoption index related to scientific soil use and irrigation index. newline5. Suggestions from the farmers for decreasing the problems related to land ownership and revenue in the study area. newlineThe present study was conducted in Udaipur district of Southern Rajasthan. Udaipur district is divided into seventeen Panchayat samities out of Girwa was selected purposely. newlineTen villages were selected from Panchayat samiti Girwa based on highest population.
