Abstract: | The present study Inland fisheries in Andhra Pradesh A management appraisal newlinewas conducted at UAS, Dharwad. Multistage random sampling procedure was adopted in the newlinestudy. Based on production of inland fisheries in Andhra Pradesh, four districts were selected newlinepurposively viz., East-Godavari, West-Godavari, Krishna and Nellore. In each district, 30 newlinefarmers and five private aqua-farms were selected randomly for the study for both carps and newlinevannamei (shrimp) production aspects. For studying marketing aspects, total of 120 market newlinefunctionaries were selected. Similarly for studying consumer behaviour with respect to fish newlineand fish products, 60 consumers were selected from each district. Primary data were collected newlinethrough well-structured schedule by personal interview method, for the year 2019-20. newlineSecondary data on fisheries production in the districts of Andhra Pradesh and India were newlinecollected from various published sources. Compound Annual Growth Rate, financial newlinefeasibility analysis, price spread, marketing efficiency and Garrett s ranking techniques were newlineemployed for analyzing the data. newlineIn India, the compound annual growth rate for the years 2000-01 to 2019-20 in newlineproduction of marine, inland and total fish production increased significantly with 1.79, 6.85 newlineand 4.89 per cent per annum respectively. In Andhra Pradesh, the corresponding figures newlineobserved were 6.84, 11.36 and 10.33 per cent per annum, respectively. The total cost of carp newlineproduction by farmers and private aqua-farms per acre were 3,26,696.00 and 3,03,688.00, newlinerespectively. The variable cost accounted for 75.90 per cent in farmers and 73.98 per cent in newlineprivate aqua-farms. Similarly, the shares of fixed cost were 24.10 and 26.02 per cent, newlinerespectively. Likewise, total cost of production of vannamei (shrimp) per acre were newline5,39.707.00 and 5,48,447.00 in farmers and private aqua-farms, respectively.
