Abstract: | The present investigation titled Variability, correlation, path analysis and diversity newlinestudies among elite and cultivated genotypes of rose (Rosa spp.) under open condition was newlinecarried out at Hi-tech Horticulture unit, Saidapur farm, Department of Horticulture, newlineUniversity of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad during 2019-20 and 2020-21. The experiment newlinewas laid out in a Randomized Block Design with two replications consisting of 37 rose newlinegenotypes. Among the vegetative characters, genotype Lobo recorded maximum plant newlineheight, plant spread in E-W and N-S direction, number of primary and secondary branches, newlinenumber of leaves per plant, leaf length, leaf area per leaflet, leaf area index, stem girth and newlinechlorophyll content. The genotype Paneer Rose produced maximum inter-nodal length, newlinewhereas, genotype Sophacle recorded more number of thorns per 15 cm shoot. Among newlineflowering parameters, genotype Siaun took minimum number of days to first flower bud newlineinitiation, days to first flower opening initiation and days to first harvest, while, the genotype newline Lobo recorded maximum number of flowers per plant and per square meter area. Significant newlinedifference was observed for quality parameters among different genotypes. Genotype Lobo newlinerecorded maximum bud length at tight bud stage, flower diameter at half and full bloom stage, newlinepetal length, petal width and stalk length. Genotype Gladiator had maximum bud diameter newlineat tight bud stage. newlineAnalysis of variance revealed highly significant variation for all the traits indicating newlinegreater variability in the existing material. High phenotypic and genotypic coefficient of newlinevariation was observed for leaf area index and number of petals per flower. High heritability newlinecoupled with high genetic advance as percentage of mean was observed for number of petals newlineper flower and leaf area per leaflet. Number of flowers per plant recorded positive and highly newlinesignificant association with number of primary branches per plant, plant spread in N-S newlinedirection, plant spread in E-W direction, plant height an |
