Assessment of Fungal Pre harvest and Post harvest Fruit Drop in Kinnow and its management

Abstract

newlineCitrus fruit health is equally important at national and international markets newlinefor attracting customers as well as receiving better prices. Pathological fruit drop in newlinecitrus is a wide spread disease in Punjab and results in huge economic losses to newlineKinnow growers. A survey was conducted during June 2019 to march 2021 to assess newlinethe occurrence of disease. The Fruit drop was significantly higher during the second newlinefortnight of September and first fortnight of October in Kinnow growing regions, Sri newlineMuktsar sahib, Bathinda and Fazilka. newlineThe studies were accomplished for the isolation, morphological and molecular newlinecharacterization of fungal pathogens from the kinnow mandarin by using 18SrRNA newlinegene sequence analysis. Identification have yielded Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, newlineDiplodia natalensis, Alternaria citri, Penicillium digitatum and Penicillium italicum newlineto be associated fungi with the Preharvest and Post harvest fruit drop.
