Abstract: | The Internet of Things has marked its presence today, in every corner of the world. Each arena like offices, homes, manufacturing, industries, agriculture, daycares, etc. has upgraded to its smarter version. The usability, efficiency, and performance of a Smart System are grounded on interrupt-free smooth functioning and a fault-tolerant approach. From the literature study, the investigation was done to understand the importance of fault detection in an IoT-enabled field. The study showed that little work has been done on smart daycares and the significance of a fault-tolerant or fault-detection mechanism. A daycare is a place where parents entrust their child s safety and protection. This trust adds to the big responsibility, that staff at daycare has to adhere to. With kids around, it becomes difficult for them to go around every bend of the daycare embedded with smart devices to check for faulty appliances. If any device goes faulty for a longer time, it can lead to great perdition which can challenge smart daycare s credibility. For example, if a smart door sensor goes out of service, it will not check for any intruder entering the daycare area, hence the security of the daycare comes at a risk. This points to the need for a fault detection system, that can automatically detect the faulty device beforehand and can also recommend a possible solution well in time. newline |
