Title: Studies on factors influencing adoption of improved dairy husbandry practices in Datia and Gwalior districts of Madhya Pradesh

Abstract: The present study was conducted in Datia and Gwalior districts of M.P. to recognize the newlinefactors, influencing adoption of IDHPs by dairy farmers. The study was accompanied in 210 newlinedairy producers, arbitrarily selected from twenty one villages of Datia and Gwalior districts. newlineData were analyzed statistically to draw meaningful inferences. Overall, most of the dairy newlineproducers (42.4%) were belonged to middle age group, had completed their education middle newlineto higher secondary (54.76%), belonged to OBC-category (87.14%), had more than four fellows newlinein their family (78.60%), were members of one organisation (49.05%), had one to two hectares newlineof land (51.90%), occupied Agriculture + Dairy as their main occupation (77.6%), had small newlineanimal holding size (44.29%), had average extension contact (68.57%), had medium (60.48%) newlinelevel exposure to mass media. Moreover, majority of the respondents had medium level of newlineeconomic motivation (49.05%), scientific (69.05%), planning (60.95%), production (65.71%), newlinemarket (61.43%), competition (58.10%), decision making ability (60.95%), risk bearing ability newline(59.52%) and attitude (66.19%) orientation respectively. Majority (67.62%) of the dairy newlineproducers had overall average degree of knowledge regarding IDHPs. In different categories, newlinedairy producers had maximum knowledge, regarding IBPs (KI 66.19%), shadowed by IHCPs newline(KI 65.12%), IGMPs (KI 55.36%) and IFPs (KI 47.86%), correspondingly. Knowledge newlineregarding each practices, farmers had highest knowledge of the practice What is the duration newlineof time that elapses between two heat? (KI 85.71%), What is correct time to feed colostrum newlineto newly born calf? (KI 80%), Are sanitary dairy houses effective for preventing infectious newlinediseases? (KI 89.05%), Is it essential to wash the teats and udder before milking the cow? newline(KI 84.76%) under IBPs, IFPs, IHPs and IHCPs, correspondingly.
