Abstract: Until the ills of illiteracy, caste, public corruption and near slavery of newlinewomen has been eliminated, India would not be ripe for democracyquot newlineNetaji Subhash. newline Women are the voice of half of the world and very often they are silenced, newlinemarginalized and out cornered. Women account for less than 12% of world s newlineparliamentarians and 7.1% National Assembly representation. UNESCO newlinebelieves that the education is the key to the changing of their status. newlineInequalities of sexes and gender injustices have made a low progress to newlinesociety. Through millennia sub-ordination to women by men has subsisted in all newlinesocieties. It is just at the fag end of 20th century their rights are being recognized. newline Women are vulnerable because of vicious circle of gender stereotype. To newlineremove these, laws can play a vital roll. newlineThey are a major part of human civilization. One has to go deep into their newlinelife and their struggle for their self existence. Every where and in every society newlinethey fall a prey before the crude eyes of the men folk. Denial of progress or favor newlineto them is the human tradition. From ancient to medieval and medieval to newlinemodem, their status is deplorable. Although numerically they are equal, they are newlinestill a minority in terms of power and influence. Even most civilized countries of newlinethe world can not confidently describe that they have equated their women newlinecommunity with the status of men. No country can progress when half of their newlinecommunity lags behind in every aspect of progress, in the fields of socio - newlineeconomic and political arena . Their bondage is very much offensive to human newlinedignity and human nights. newline
