Abstract: | The clinical definition of depression, based on the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Health Disorders (DSM-5), is a period of at least two weeks when a person experienced a depressed mood or loss of interest or pleasure in daily activities, and had a majority of specified newlinesymptoms, such as problems with sleep, eating, energy, concentration, or self-worth. This definition excludes grief after mourning. As many as two-thirds of people struggling with depression literally try to newlinegrin and bear it they don t seek or receive the help they need to cope and those who do often let months go by before bringing itup with their doctor. Depression can stick around for years if left untreated and can leads to physical symptoms or even thoughts of suicide. Even if an episode resolves on its own, it could recure. Ayurveda have many solutions to such a drastic situation. Ayurveda treats both mind and body and provide good physical and mental health to a person. Methods and Materials: 160 patients eligible known case of mild and moderate Depression were selected and divided into 2 groups by following computer generated randomization technique. The present study was double blind randomized placebo-controlled trial on Siddharthaka yoga in the newlinemanagement of mild and moderate depression. Therefore, in two groups Siddharthaka yoga A group 1 and siddharthaka yoga B capsules group 2 were given 500 mg capsules thrice daily after food with anupana water for 2 months. newlineResults: Statistically significant improvement was observed on Hamilton depression rating scale in the group 2 which was treated with Siddharthaka yoga B capsules. On comparison of results between the siddharthaka yoga A and B capsules, siddharthakayoga B was more effective than siddharthaka yoga A on Hamilton depression rating scale subjective parameters. Conclusion: Siddharthaka yoga B was effective in treating the mild and moderate Depression.It does not have any untoward phenomena. |
