dc.description.abstractThe work of Ph.D. entitled Bioprospecting Laccase from an Autochthonous White Rot Fungus for Various Applications in Textile Industry was done with the aim to explore the white rot fungi, capable of producing laccase, from different biodiverse regions of Chandigarh Capital region and further screening out their potential applications in textile wet processes by the most promising isolate. Due to the huge industrial potential of their enzymes, white rot fungi is an important category of basidiomycetes. The isolate, Ganoderma multipileum was collected from Panjab University Campus, Sector 14, Chandigarh and was found to be capable of producing laccase with maximum activity. The optimization studies were carried out successfully to achieve the enhanced laccase activity under solid-state fermentation. The laccase obtained was partially purified and was evaluated for important applications in textile industry after detailed characterization. The test laccase was found capable of showing a remarkable potential of dye decolorization, Denim finishing and Cotton biobleaching. newline
