Abstract: The purpose of this thesis is to create organosilicon-based optical sensors for measuring toxic ions in aqueous samples. Integrating a silyl fragment into an organic portion allows for derivatization on both ends, making this a promising research field. Graphene oxide and silica have been used to further modify the surface of organosilanes and silatranes .Silanes and silatranes have wide range of applications in several fields. Furthermore, scientists are also interested in developing new molecular sensors for the detection of toxic ions in order to monitor environmental and biological activities. New and more efficient chemical reactions and techniques, which could replace the time-consuming protection/deprotection and purification processes in traditional complete synthesis, could transform chemical and biological research in the future. Traditional toxic ion identification techniques such as atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS), X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF), inductively coupled plasma/mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), potentiometric methodology, and inductively coupled plasma/atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES) processes have all been extensively researched, however these approaches are prohibitively expensive, involve time-consuming pre-treatment stages, and necessitate expert operators, limiting their practical utility. In this thesis, organosilanes and silatranes have been studied for their photophysical and ion recognition properties. newline
