Abstract: The thesis explores the non-Disneyesque terrain in animated filmmaking, examining narrative and body compositions beyond the normative Disney formula. The study traces the evolution of animation as a medium, its recognition in academia, and the dominating role played by Disneyesque narratives and representations of the body in the popular culture industry. The research also explores the synergy between the post-modernist revolution and non-Disneyesque animations and their contribution in championing social change. It presents an overview of the terrain charted by the animated film, highlighting the immense possibilities of this medium across disciplines. Although the division between Disneyesque and non-Disneyesque animation is problematic, recent trends demonstrate that the latter is an active and evolving field. The subsequent chapters bring to light new areas being traversed by the animated medium and its interactions with the production of culture. The author concludes that the animated narrative ventures into terrains beyond the limits of photographic recording, human censorship, confines of normative experiences, and existence itself, and the animated body rejoices to take up any shape imaginable, move in any way imaginable, and if needed, reinvent or even annihilate itself. The non-Disneyesque animated film is relatively uninhibited by the film market, enabling it to go beyond the traditional patterns of filmmaking, explore diverse subjects and carve out alternative aesthetics. The work emphasizes the necessity of a transdisciplinary approach in the study of animation and explores the limitless possibilities of animated expression. newline newline newline
