dc.description.abstractUnlike natural liposomes, synthetic liposomes have not been extensively explored. Therefore, the present work is focused on understanding different membrane properties of the synthetic liposomes (MT-liposomes), which have been synthesized from metal-hybrid materials i.e. metallosurfactants. Interestingly, these MTs have been synthesized from a single tail surfactant and are water-soluble in nature. Cholesterol at different concentrations has been added to these MT-liposomes to enhance their stability and biocompatibility. The properties of MT-liposomal can be varied with the nature of MT, counter metal ions, sterol derivatives, and solvating media, hence these factors were varied and corresponding effect on different properties such as size, morphology, physicochemical properties, and lamellar width has been studied. Along with this, concentration-dependent effect of cholesterol was evaluated. With variations in the membrane properties, their drug entrapment efficiency and release were also affected. Hence, it was observed that the properties of these MT-liposomal assemblies can be easily modulated by varying the mentioned factors. Therefore, these assemblies can be designed according to the required application. From the application point of view, these assemblies were explored in terms of antimicrobial drug carriers and their interactional behavior with DNA has been studied. newline
