Abstract: The study examined the organizational set up and functions of Panchayati Raj Institutions in the State of Himachal Pradesh. The methodology used for conducting this research on the Scheduled Tribes in Pangi and Bharmour Sub- Divisions of Himachal Pradesh was empirical- analytical. Both primary and secondary sources were used for data collection. Primary data has been collected through interview schedule. The method of stratified random sampling was utilized and total 200 respondents were taken for the sampling. The secondary sources included- Books, Government reports, Published articles, Research Journals, Periodicals, Historical accounts, Accounts of travelers etc. The data collected was then processed, analyzed and interpreted with the help of simple statistical tools to meet the logical conclusion. newline
