Abstract: | newline ABSTRACT newlineThe present study was aimed towards facilitating an effective newlineintervention programme for newlineADHD newlinechildren. The present study newlineconsisted of three phases. Phase I, Phase II, Phase III. Phase I, newlineinvolved the screening of ADHD children in the age group of 8 to 13 newlineyears. Out of the total population of 1405 children (age group 7-13 newlineyears) from seven schools of Vishakhapatnam, 54 children were newlinescreened out as having ADHD. Screening was done by using the newlineattention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) checklist developed by newlineRaju and Taraka Ramarao (2013). The Checklists were filled by both newlineparents as well as teachers of the children. Based upon the responses newlineof both the parents as well as teachers, severity level and co-morbid newlineconditions, 54 children were screened out as ADHD. newlineIn Phase newlineII, out of these 54 children, 20 children were selected newlinerandomly for experimental group. EEG recording was done for the newlineexperimental group and accordingly neurofeedback protocols were set newlineindividually for each subject. Intervention programme including newlineneurofeedback training and behavior therapies, (cognitive behavior newlinetherapies, social skills training, parents and teachers counseling etc.) newlinewere given in phase II. newlinePhase newlineIII focused upon testing the effectiveness of the newlineintervention programme. Pre and post intervention testing was done. newlineParents and teachers were again asked to fill the ADHD checklist for newlinechildren after the intervention programme. Statistical tests used for newlineAndhra University, Visakhapatnam newlinethe present study included Percentages, Mean, Standard Deviation, t newlinetest, one way ANOWA, Post HOC tests and paired sample t-test. newlineThe results observed a significant difference between pre newlineintervention and post-intervention measures of attehtion deficit newlinehyperactive disorder (ADHD), predominantly inattentive type and newlinepredominantly hyperactive impulsive type on application of newlineneurofeedback training and behavioral therapies. newlineAndhra University, Visakhapatnam |
