Abstract: | This thesis discusses understanding and use of N-containing compounds for their specific use in nanomaterials synthesis and their role as possible capping agents, reducing agents or as coordination ligand. In doing so, the candidate has gone through a variety of Schiff bases and Semicarabazones based compounds which are already known to be highly useful for pharma and biochemistry. Many of such N-containing compounds are reported to be useful in handling deadly diseases e.g. cancer, HIV, TB, pandemic etc. A thorough introduction to such compounds and their possible use in nanomaterial synthesis is thus presented in chapter one called Introduction which is the basis for all other research presented in this thesis. Similarly, use of various high-tech spectroscopic and analytical techniques used have been covered in chapter two and these have been discussed in respective sections for their usefulness for the identification and confirmation of synthesized new compounds/ materials etc newlineOverall, present thesis explored use of nitrogen containing compounds in materials chemistry and nanotechnology and presented research work employing semicarbazones and Schiff bases as precursors for synthesis of silver nanoparticles, copper/ copper oxide nanoparticles as well as synthesis of CdSe and ZnSe quantum dots and silver selenides nanopartilces. newline |
