Abstract: | The constant desire for better catalytic performance drives us to newlineseek out new materials. Following the discovery of dendrimers, the idea newlineof employing them as catalysts was developed. The two most essential newlinestructural properties are their three-dimensional structure and numerous newlineterminal functional groups. First, a brief overview of dendrimers is newlineoffered in this thesis, with a focus on polyol cored dendrimers as newlinecatalysts. The dendrimer-based catalytic systems have shown recent newlineadvancements. newlineThere are nine chapters in the thesis. Dendrimers, dendritic newlinepolymers, and their metal complexes are introduced in Chapter 1. It provides newlinean overview of recent discoveries and applications of dendrimer-based newlinecatalysts, as well as a brief summary of the importance of homogeneous and newlineheterogeneous dendrimer catalysis. The various analytical procedures for newlinethe characterization of synthetic dendrimer systems are also discussed. newlineSynthesis and characterization of five different polyol cored amino newlineand amidoamine functionalized dendritic polymers are discussed in newlineChapter 2. The present approach to synthesize dendritic polymers with newlineSorbitol, Maltitol, Inositol, Phloroglucinol and Porphyrin cores involved newlineconventional ring opening polymerization of oxiranes initiated by polyols newlineand post-polymerization modification. newline |
