dc.description.abstractAn attempt has been made in this thesis to examine the theoretical framework of women empowerment and microfinance, to analyse the concept of financial inclusion, its progress and outreach with reference to women SHGs, to examine the accessibility of credit to rural women for economic micro entrepreneurship under NABARD assisted SHGs, to evaluate the women welfare programmes in Haryana with Special Reference to Swaranjyanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana/ Deendayal Antayoda Yojana- National Rural Livelihood Mission, to examine the organizational structure of Ministry of Rural Development at Center level and Haryana Institute of Rural Development in Haryana, to analyse the perceptions of members of SHGs on economic empowerment and political awareness of rural women after joining SHGs, to analyses the perception of officials of the District Rural Development Agency of Haryana regarding the implementation of the scheme. The study reveals that it is not conducive performance, mainly due to lack of autonomy, weak co-ordination, imbalanced task allocation, non formation of smaller task groups for time bound projects. It has been found that there was lack of coordination between the officials and the group members. It has been found that the financial literacy of SHGs assisted under SGSY/DAY-NRLM has increased. It has been also found that the beneficiaries were not satisfied with the performance of the officials. Grievance redressal mechanism of the District Rural Development Agency not working properly and takes much time to resolve the problems of beneficiaries. The beneficiaries were dissatisfied with the behaviour of the officials when they approach them. newline
