The objective of the research is to develop a psychometric assessment tool to measure the fear of crime in tourists in India. The study adopted well-accepted and renowned tool development procedures that were used to develop a tool to find out the levels of fear of crime in tourists. The results obtained through this test can be further utilised to understand the perceived threat present in tourists towards leisure travel for India s destinations. One of the biggest global industries, the tourism sector s total contribution to the worldwide economy, reached 8.8 trillion US dollars. (WTTC, 2019) Concerning contributing to global travel and tourism growth, India stood third with 6%, after China with 25% and the USA with a 12% contribution to the total GDP in 2018. newline newlineDespite the immense cultural and historical heritage, diversity in ecology, terrain, and places of natural beauty spread around the country, India s industry has significant potential. Many evidential incidences indicate that tourists are victims of crimes ranging from minor to brutal over the years in India, which actively leads to fear of crime in tourists . Fear of crime is negatively impacting the industry and millions of people who are directly / indirectly associated with the tourism industry.
