Abstract: | The present study was conducted to find anatomic variations in the origin of the Celiac Trunk, Superior Mesenteric and Inferior Mesenteric Artery, Right and Left Renal Arteries by Contrast Enhanced Computed Tomography in relation to vertebrae. The scan films of 300 patients coming to the department of radiodiagnosis for other reasons, were examined. The body of the vertebra was divided into three parts, upper 1/3rd, middle 1/3rd and lower 1/3rd. The intervertebral disc was also considered. Each artery was divided into Type I to Type IV as per its relation to part of vertebra/ intervertebral disc. The diameter of each artery was determined. It was observed that variations were shown by each artery at its origin in relation to vertebrae and diameter. The vertebral levels of Celiac Trunk, Superior Mesenteric Artery, Inferior Mesenteric artery, Right and Left Renal Arteries did not show correlation with each other in relation to vertebrae as the Spearmanand#8223;s rank correlation was not significant with p-value gt0.05. The mean diameter of these arteries had shown significant correlation with each other with p-value lt0.05. The mean diameter of each artery had shown increase with advancing age in males and females. This knowledge can be helpful to the surgeons before treatment and after treatment on abdominal organs. newline |
