Abstract: quotBackground newlineNumerous injuries each year are caused by sport, resulting in decreased physical activity and work time lost in addition to substantial medical costs. Thus it is necessary to assess the impairments that leads to injuries and necessitates the development of individualized and impairment specific corrective exercise program. newlineObjectives newlineTo determine the inter-tester reliability of the kinematics of OHS using two-dimensional (2D) motion capture and motion analysis software, to investigate the presence of movement impairment syndrome in athletes with and without lower extremity injuries and to investigate the effects of corrective exercises on movement impairment syndrome in lower extremity sports injuries. newlineSetting: Stadiums in and around Karad and Physiotherapy OPD at Krishna college of Physiotherapy newlineMethods newlineAfter ethical clearance, CTRI number was taken. For phase 1 of the study 50 athletes were taken according to the inclusion criteria and by using 2D motion capture system and a freeware, OHS assessment was done to quantify the joint angles and distance measure. For phase 2, 135 athletes with lower extremity injury and 135 non-injured athletes were taken and muscle length, strength, joint angles and distance measure were assessed along with injuries. In phase 3, the injured athletes were further divided in two groups and one received treatment for their injuries and the other group received the regular treatment for injuries in addition to corrective exercises according to their impairments. The non-injured athletes were also divided into two groups, one group receives corrective exercises according their impairments and the other group was observed for a period of 8 weeks. newlineResults: Excellent inter-rater reliability was found for frontal plane motion for bilateral extremities and sagittal plane except for hip flexion (0.719) measure.
