dc.description.abstractUrban growth is the spatial pattern of land development and the newlineprocess of attaining a form influenced by various factors One of the major newlinetasks of the urban planners is land use planning It involves various newlineassumptions on likely development wherein the planners need to recognize newlinevarious influencing factors or variables Verifying the variables influencing newlinedevelopment over a period of time that too for vast areas like a metropolis is newlinea phenomenal task With all due efforts by the planners many land use plans newlinedo not yield the desired results by the end of the plan period The main newlinereasons for this mismatch is the lapses in identification of variables which newlineinfluence urban growth foreseeing the consequences of the variables over the newlineland use and evaluation and incorporation of midcourse corrections in theplans newline newlineen_US
