Nowadays, a large amount of data is transmitted over the Internet newlineand in Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS). A significant portion of this data is newlinehighly confidential. Bank account details, credit card details, One Time newlinePasswords (OTP), financial data and other sensitive information are some newlineexamples of highly confidential data. As cybercrimes are on the rise every newlineday, apart from the steps taken to provide network security, proper measures newlinefor data security are of utmost importance. Secure data encryption and data newlinedecryption techniques are essential to ensure secure data transmission. newlineThe encryption technique uses a secret key to encode the confidential data newlineinto an unreadable form and guarantees that the data is only accessible to newlineauthorized individuals. This research proposes a novel encryption process newlinebased on Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) cryptography, a Hyperchaotic newlinesystem and a Finite State Machine (FSM). In DNA cryptography, data is newlineencoded as DNA sequences and many operations based on biological newlineconcepts of DNA are applied to the DNA sequences. The hyperchaotic newlinesystem is a dynamic non-linear system that generates pseudo-random newlinenumber sequences. It is impossible to guess the output of the hyperchaotic newlinesystem without knowing the initial conditions and parameters used in the newlinesystem. These pseudo-random number sequences are used in various newlineDNA based operations. The FSM performs substitutions in the DNA newlinesequence, making the system more secure. Here, the times for data encryption, data decryption, key generation and newlinekey retrieval are less than existing schemes. The proposed system gives newlinean average avalanche effect of 54.75%, which guarantees a high level of newlinerobustness. Thus, experimental results show that the proposed scheme is newlinemore secure and efficient than the existing schemes. newline
