dc.description.abstractGreen revolution has transformed India from land of scarcity to land of surplus food. Urbanization, rising per capita income, increased literacy, changing life style, awareness for wellness and health, international exposure has changed the consumption pattern. With this change in consumption pattern food processing sector has emerged as high growth and high profit sector. This sector has emerged as a major player in Indian economy. newline Food processing is the process of adding value to the agriculture produce by using various techniques like grading, sorting, packaging etc., which enhance the shelf life of food products. Madhya Pradesh is the 2nd largest state by area in the country. The state is bestowed with 11 agro-climatic divisions that has been a major precursor for the growth and development of agriculture in the state. The vast climatic variation has made Madhya Pradesh a suitable place for cultivation of a gamut of crops needing diverse environment conditions. newlineThis research work is an attempt to evaluate the economic viability of food processing industry in Hoshangabad District, M.P. and to assess the present status, impact of government program to promote FPI, problem and future prospect of food processing industries in Hoshangabad District. This study has been done on the basis of primary and secondary data. newline
